INTERNATIONAL MARRIAGE BROKER REGULATION ACT (IMBRA) |
IMBRAIn 2005, due to concerns about the welfare of foreign brides, the U.S. Congress passed the International Marriage Broker Regulation Act (IMBRA). IMBRA requires that all customers of International Marriage Brokers (IMBs), and Petitioners for Fiancee Visas, disclose specific background information to the potential foreign partners. This background information includes any criminal or domestic violence history. This information is then presented to all of the potential foreign partner in her native language for signature on a release before contact can take place.
